Jane Fillmore and Penelope Hippen took advantage of Thursdays mild weather at Leitas Pond Park in Thornwood. The pair were at the park with their mothers, Chy Ayn Fillmore, of Hawthorne, and Karalenn Hippen, of Thornwood.
The sun and cool breeze were a welcome respite to Wednesday's steamy heat and tornado watch. The forecast calls for more sun and temperatures in the 70s Friday, with the temperatures and humidity creeping back up on the weekend.
