A 70-year-old woman is facing a felony charge after being charged with grand larceny for allegedly stealing more than $300,000 from her Westchester employer.

Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Monday that New Rochelle resident Patricia Hunt, who formerly worked as a bookkeeper for Artisan Restoration Co. and E. Gargiulo Interior and Exterior Restoration Co., was facing the second-degree grand larceny charge following arraignment in Mount Vernon City Court last week.

According to the felony complaint, Hunt allegedly stole more than $300,000 by writing checks on the business and personal accounts of Enrico Gargiulo to “cash” and proceeded to deposit the money into her own account or cashed them without proper permission to do so.

Scarpino noted that Gargiulo’s companies “restore churches and other buildings with a focus on architectural millwork, stained and lead glass, painting and marble.” Hunt had been employed at the company for 20 years before being fired in the summer of 2017. The alleged thefts took place between Jan. 14, 2011 and Aug. 14, 2017, before her dismissal.

Following arraignment on April 5, Hunt was released on her own recognizance. She is due back in Mount Vernon City Court on May 2 to answer the charge, when she will face up to 15 years in state prison.
