The Dutchess County crash occurred around 10:44 p.m. Monday at Route 82 and Bulls Head Road in Stanford, said New State Police Trooper AJ Hicks.

Two men and a woman were killed after the car plowed over a tree before bursting into flames and landing against the front porch of the home in Dutchess County, he said.

The occupants have been identified as a 35-year-old man, a 46-year-old man, and a 40-year-old woman.

"Because of the circumstances surrounding the crash, the department has to be 100 percent certain we have identified the correct persons," said Hicks.

Hicks said it could be several days before the department receives the forensic verification of identification.

An initial investigation suggests the operator of a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer left the roadway and struck a tree. After striking the tree the vehicle caught fire. The fire spread to a nearby house and was extinguished by Stanfordville Fire Department, state police said.
