New Storm Snowfall Forecast Map: These Areas Will See Most Accumulation, Slippery Conditions

A new, quick-moving winter storm will bring more snowfall to the parts of the Northeast, leading to slippery roadways and sidewalks.

The time frame for the system is overnight Friday, Feb. 16 into early Saturday afternoon, Feb. 17 with the highest likelihood for snow between about 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. Saturday in most of the Northeast.

In those spots, the snowfall "could cause slippery conditions late tonight into Saturday morning," the National Weather Service said in a Hazardous Weather Outlook statement issued Friday.

It will be the third storm of this week and will come around 24 hours after a system move through overnight Thursday, Feb. 15 into the early overnight hours Friday. The week's most significant storm, which produced as much as 18 inches in some areas, slammed the Northeast on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

With the latest system, snow is less likely in central and eastern New England from the system, and if it does come, would likely fall after daybreak and during Saturday morning.

Clouds will thicken after nightfall Friday ahead of the arrival of the storm.

After the system pushes through, there will be gradual clearing on Saturday afternoon as the high temperature reaches the mid-30s.

That will lead to a mostly sunny day Sunday, Feb. 18 with temperatures in the mid-30s.

Presidents' Day on Monday, Feb. 19 will be sunny with a high in the low 40s.

The outlook for Tuesday, Feb. 20 calls for mostly sunny skies with a high temperature in the upper 30s to low 40s.
