Retired Hawthorne Train Conductor Kari Dies at 86

HAWTHORNE, N.Y. - Pentti B. Kari, of Hawthorne, died March 10. He was 86.

Born in San Francisco, Calif. Sep. 4, 1925, he was the son of the late Bernhard and Lydia Kari. He moved to Highland, N.Y. in 1930 and lived in Westchester throughout his life. A U.S. Navy veteran, Kari was retired as a Metro-North Railroad conductor.

He is survived by his children, Nelson, Kenneth, Laurel and Lydia; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Laurel.

A private service will be held at a future date. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hawthorne Funeral Home.
