Opened by restaurateur Odell Fincher in early March, the new eatery specializes in all things Southern: from classics like chicken and waffles to shrimp and grits, catfish, fried chicken and much more, Sugar Shack’s menu aims to please fans of traditional Southern fare.

The eatery also offers simple breakfast options like pancakes, steak and eggs, potato bowls, French toast and more.

Of course, the Sugar Shack wouldn’t live up to its name without offering a series of sugar-laden desserts — creme brûlée cheesecake, chocolate mousse cake, banana pudding dip and key lime pie are just a few sweet treats you'll find on the menu. Specialty sundaes, milkshakes and even cocktails are available as well.

Though the eatery has only been opened for a few months, it’s already starting to gain momentum. The restaurant’s 3.5/5-star Yelp rating suggests that its service may still be working out a few small kinks, but the quality of the food as a whole seems to speak for itself, as the Sugar Shack Facebook page has earned a perfect five-star rating.

“Had a very really good time here. The service was great. Sabrina, our server, was both very accommodating and attentive. I tried and liked both the wings and soul rolls. (Also appreciated there's a vegan burger option offered too.) The candy land fishbowl was great. The peach extreme shake I tried was a very pleasant surprise,” wrote Alain L. in an April 19 Yelp review.

Sugar Shack is open Tuesday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Friday from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, visit the website.
