Car Slams Into Pole, Shutting Down Busy New Rochelle Intersection A busy New Rochelle intersection is temporarily shut down to traffic after a motorist drove into a utility pole, breaking it in half. A car struck a pole shortly before 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning at the intersection of Pelham Road and North Avenue in New Rochelle, according to multiple reports, leaving the roadway completely closed until Con Edison crews could respond to the scene to remove it.
