Hours-Long Standoff Ends In Suicide In Area A tense hours-long standoff ended when an area resident with a rifle killed himself. Putnam County Sheriff Robert Langley, Jr. said the incident unfolded around 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 23,  when the town of Kent Ambulance along with the EmStar medics were dispatched to Pudding Street in the Town of Putnam Valley for a man with chest pain. Man With Shotgun Takes His Own Life In Area, Police Say A man is dead after taking his own life following a police-involved incident in the area.
