Nearly 40 Cats Found Living In 'Filth, Garbage' In Westchester Apartment Almost 40 cats were discovered to be living in filthy conditions after neighbors reported a terrible smell coming from a Westchester apartment, officials said.  The discovery was made by SPCA Westchester's Humane Law Enforcement Team, which responded to a White Plains apartment after a landlord reported that neighbors were complaining about a "deathly smell" coming from the unit, the organization announced on Tuesday, Feb. 13. Westchester Veterinarian Arrested For Punching, Kicking Animals, Police Say A veterinarian in the region is accused of physically abusing numerous animals that were entrusted in his care. Javier Diaz, age 46, was arrested Thursday, April 28, following an investigation by SPCA Westchester and the Westchester County DA’s office. The abuse allegedly occurred on six occasions in April 2022 at Main Street Animal Hospital, a clinic owned by Diaz in the village of Elmsford, in the town of Greenburgh. Cash Is SPCA Pet Of The Week BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- The SPCA Westchester is hoping someone is looking for some Cash. Cash is a seven pound Chihuahua mix who likes other small dogs and is good with kids 10 and up, the SPCA said. Cash is available for permanent foster due to a heart condition known as degenerative valve disease. This condition requires daily medication and a heart-healthy diet.  As a permanent foster, Cash's medical needs will be covered by the SPCA.
