Teen Caught With Over $90K In Stolen US Treasury Checks In New Rochelle: Police
A 17-year-old boy was hit with felony charges after he was caught with dozens of stolen US Treasury checks in Westchester following his attempted escape from traffic stops, police said. The events leading to the teen's arrest began just after 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, when authorities in New Rochelle were alerted of a vehicle entering the city that had previously fled from a traffic stop in New York City, according to New Rochelle Police Captain J. The votes have been tallied, and a projected winner has come out on top in the race for New York's 17th Congressional District seat. Incumbent Republican Rep. Mike Lawler has emerged as the winner for the House seat representing Rockland and Putnam counties, most of Northern Westchester, and portions of southern Dutchess County, defeating Democratic challenger Mondaire Jones, according to the state Board of Elections. The votes are in, and New York's 16th Congressional District now knows its next representative in Congress. Democrat George Latimer has been projected as the winner for the House seat representing the southern portion of Westchester, including White Plains, Mount Vernon, Yonkers, New Rochelle, and Rye, and a small part of the northern Bronx, defeating Republican Miriam Flisser, according to the state Board of Elections.
