Car Catches On Fire On Parkway In Westchester An early morning vehicle blaze sent up plenty of smoke on a busy parkway in Northern Westchester.  The fire began on Tuesday, Nov. 12 around 6 a.m. on the southbound Taconic State Parkway in Briarcliff Manor, where a vehicle went up in flames, according to the Hawthorne Fire Department, which helped fight the blaze.  Arriving firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire in the parkway's right shoulder.  No injuries were reported.

The incident happened just after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, in Northern Westchester when the car flipped on the eastern half of Colabaugh Pond Road in Croton-on-Hudson, according to the village's fire department. Arriving first responders found that the driver had managed to escape the vehicle on his own.  The driver later declined a trip to the hospital after being evaluated.  The cause of the crash was not released.

Village In Westchester To Lower Maximum Speed Limit Ahead Of New School Year Drivers with a lead foot, beware: a municipality in Westchester will soon be lowering its village-wide speed limit, officials announced.  The village of Pelham announced on Wednesday, Aug. 28 that it would lower the maximum speed limit from 30 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour.  The change will go into effect across the village on Sunday, Sept. 1.  To reflect the change, new signage and increased police enforcement will be put into place, village officials said.
