Residents were evaluated for smoke exposure following a bathroom fire in their Hudson Valley home. The blaze happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, July 31 just before 6 a.m., when an oil burner malfunction was reported at a Mahopac home on Mountain View Drive. Fire Tears Through Westchester Residence Amid Dense Fog, Rain
Firefighters endured rain and heavy fog while battling a blaze at a Northern Westchester residence that left the home damaged. The fire broke out on Wednesday, Jan. 24 around 6:30 p.m., when flames ignited at a residence in Yorktown in the area of Hardwood Place and Hanover Street. With the help of mutual aid from departments from Croton-on-Hudson and Mahopac, firefighters were able to bring the fire under control and put out hot spots. As investigators continue to look for the cause of a fatal fire in which a Hudson Valley firefighter and a resident died, the medical examiner's office is confirming the identity of the firefighter. Two residents received burns and two firefighters were injured during an early morning fire in Westchester. The fire started around 3:59 a.m., Friday, Feb. 26, at 2 Sherwood Terrace in Yonkers, said Chief Joseph Citrone. A woman died on Tuesday morning after a fire broke out in a basement apartment in Yonkers, a deputy fire chief said. First responders were dispatched to a Park Avenue residence at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, when a neighbor saw smoke coming from a basement apartment and called the fire department.
