Referendum On Starting Time Sparks Debate At School District In Fairfield County
A referendum on whether or not to review and potentially change the starting time for schools in a Connecticut school district has led to a mass debate and much consternation in the community. On Wednesday, June 2 in Fairfield County, there will be a referendum vote from noon until 8 p.m. in New Canaan at the high school over whether or not the Board of Education should spend nearly $500,000 to study start times for students. State Judge Asks For Meeting On Edgemont Becoming A Village, 2nd Lawsuit
A state judge handling the Town of Greenburgh's litigation with Edgemont residents over their desire to create a new village has called for a meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 13. In the meantime, the town has filed a notice of appeal to protect its interests until there is a clear indication of how to proceed, according to Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner. State Judge Orders Greenburgh To Hold Vote On Edgemont Becoming A Village
After his unopposed re-election as Greenburgh Supervisor in November, Paul Feiner vowed to work with Edgewood residents if they succeeded in securing a referendum to incorporate their section of the town into a separate village. On Thursday, Feb. 1, a state judge sided with those residents and ordered that the town hold a special vote within 45 days.
