Driver Rescued After Hitting Pole, Landing In Swamp 40 Feet Away From Hudson Valley Road Firefighters had to navigate their way through frigid water after a car crashed into a pole and landed in a swamp 40 feet off a Hudson Valley road, knocking down live power lines in the process.  The crash happened in Putnam County on Monday, Jan. 1 just before 10:30 p.m., when a car traveling west on Haviland Hollow Road in Patterson failed to navigate a curve in the road and hit a telephone pole before landing in a swamp, according to the Patterson Fire Department.  Arriving crews found the driver stuck in the mangled car, which was surrounded by water. Trapped Horse Rescued By Fire Department In Area A local fire department was able to rescue a 31-year-old horse after he became stuck between a rock and a fence in the Hudson Valley. The incident took place in Putnam County around 7:30 a.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 25, when the Patterson Fire Department received a call to respond to a local farm to assist the horse named "Dozer." Hours-Long Emergency Effort Frees Trapped Horse In Area After four hours of hard work, the Patterson Fire Department managed to save a horse that was stuck in the mud on the banks of the Wonder Lake State Park. ID Released For Man Killed In Crash That Shut Down I-84 For More Than 10 Hours The identity of the man killed in an early morning crash involving an overturned tractor-trailer and a car that shut down a stretch of I-84 for more than 10 hours on Monday has been released. The closure occurred on eastbound I-84 at Exit 17 (Ludingtonville Road/Route 43) in Kent.
