Dog Dies After Basement Blaze At Westchester Residence
A dog died following a blaze that began in the basement of a Northern Westchester home, firefighters said. The fire began on Thursday, March 7 just before 10:30 a.m. at a residence in Ossining on Somerstown Road, according to the Millwood Fire Department. Arriving crews soon found smoke coming out of the house and forced their way in, discovering that the main body of the fire was contained in the basement. Driver Injured In Crash On Busy Westchester Road
A driver was injured after crashing into an embankment alongside a busy Northern Westchester road. The incident happened on Friday, Jan. 19 just before 7 p.m., when a vehicle crashed into an embankment next to Route 100 in Millwood, according to the Millwood Fire Department. Fire crews and police soon arrived at the scene and found that the driver had suffered cuts to their face. Crews had to be careful to avoid sparking a fire while removing an electric vehicle with a lithium-ion battery that crashed and flipped over into a wooded area in Northern Westchester. A Westchester man was arrested after fleeing from police and taking them on a chase along the Taconic State Parkway before crashing in a stolen vehicle. The incident took place in around 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12. The Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps will be delivering some 200 doses of Moderna vaccine to distribute to residents 18 and older over the course of the next three weeks. Appointments will be available at 8 Clinton Avenue, Ossining, at the paramedic headquarters during the "pop-up" vaccine clinics. Two Croton Public Works employees were rescued by members from the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department after being stranded in the Croton River. The rescue took place a little after 9 a.m., Tuesday, April 30, when the department was notified of an overturned boat with two people in the water near the Croton River's Silver Lake Park, said the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department. A man was seriously wounded after being stabbed during a fight over a parking space in Northern Westchester. All hands were on deck - literally - as first responders rescued a man whose boat capsized in the Hudson River. The Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department received a report of the boater in distress off Croton Point at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, leading to a water rescue involving several area first responders.
