Halloween Police Details Result In 16.5K Tickets Statewide: Here's A Breakdown
New York State Police troopers dished out nearly double the number of tickets during a special Halloween enforcement detail. Troopers issued 16,690 tickets statewide during the enforcement campaign, up from 9,057 tickets last year. Westchester Keeping Sex Offenders Off Streets For Halloween
While children are tricking and treating throughout Westchester, area sex offenders on probation will be off the streets this Halloween. More than 150 registered and non-registered sex offenders on probation in Westchester and Putnam counties have received special “invitations,” requiring them to attend an educational anti-sexual abuse victim impact program. The program is being held at Westchester County Courthouse between 5:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Wednesday. Motorists should not drink and drive or they may be getting a ticket instead of a treat for Halloween. State and local police agencies will be increasing patrols in an effort to crack down on impaired drivers in advance of the holiday. Each year, 4,400 trick-or-treaters across the country are taken to a hospital. Dr. Mark Papish, associate medical director of Emergency Medicine at MidHudson Regional Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), shared strategies to minimize risk.
