State health officials announced the death of a Connecticut resident who developed symptoms of Powassan virus weeks after she was bit by a tick. The Connecticut Department of Public Health announced on Tuesday, June 7, that the New London County resident who was in her 90s died at the hospital on Tuesday, May 17. The Connecticut Department of Public Health State Laboratory identified a presumptive positive case of COVID-19 involving a second Connecticut resident on Monday, March 9. NEW CANAAN, Conn. — The fourth-grader from New Canaan who died unexpectedly over the weekend had tested positive for Type B Flu, according to the New Canaan Advertiser. Nico Mallozzi, 10, died Sunday after he became ill at a hockey tournament in Buffalo, N.Y., according to multiple reports.
