Tractor-Trailer Carrying Motorcycle Parts Crashes Into Parkway Overpass In Westchester
A tractor-trailer slammed into an overpass on the Bronx River Parkway, shearing off the top of the vehicle and backing up traffic in Westchester. The crash took place around 6:12 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, when the tractor-trailer traveling southbound struck an overpass on the Bronx River Parkway near the Cross County Parkway between Yonkers and Mount Vernon, said Westchester County Police Spokesman Kieran O'Leary. Bicycle Sundays Are Back In Westchester
April showers bring May flowers. And the return of Bicycle Sundays to Westchester. The Westchester Parks Foundation and Westchester County Parks announced that Bicycle Sundays will begin on Sunday, May 5, when a stretch of the Bronx River Parkway will be closed for cyclists. Each year since 1974, more than 60,000 participants have biked, walked and jogged on a 13.1-mile loop of the parkway from White Plains to Yonkers. The roadway will be closed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays for several weeks in May, June and September. No Bicycle Sundays are offered in July or August. Bicycle Sundays …

A 26-year-old man was busted by police in Westchester driving with a blood alcohol content more than double the legal limit after he made a questionable turn at a busy intersection near the Bronx River Parkway. A Westchester County Police officer was hospitalized over the weekend after an alleged drunk and unlicensed driver lost control and rear-ended his patrol car while he was on a Bronx River Parkway exit ramp in Yonkers. Bronx River Parkway Reopens Following Crash
The Bronx River Parkway in White Plans has reopened following a southbound crash that closed the roadway for more than an hour. The two-car crash occurred around 9 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25 near Exit 23 and at Old Tarrytown Road in Greenburgh, said Kieran O'Leary with the Westchester County Police. Westchester County Police arrested a 40-year-old man on Sunday night after he drove the wrong way on the Bronx River Parkway in Eastchester and slammed head-on into another car. The incident occurred shortly before 11 p.m. when Joseph Ayala of Yonkers, who was alone in his car, drove his 2015 Cadillac Escalade southbound in the northbound lanes of the Bronx River Parkway, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the Westchester County Police. Police in Scarsdale were called to CVS on Popham Road, when a manager spotted a suspicious man he recognized from a previous larceny at the store. A CVS store manager contacted the Scarsdale Police Department at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, reporting a suspicious man in the store. A man who had his driver’s license suspended for failing to pay child support was arrested in Scarsdale over the weekend when officers ran the license plates of his BMW and found the registration was suspended. A Scarsdale police officer on patrol on Fox Meadow Road shortly after 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12 found a 2018 BMW idling in the driveway of a local home. New Days-Long Hutch Closure Scheduled
Get set for a new closure last over several days on a stretch of the Hutchinson River Parkway. Motorists have been advised that beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, the Hutchinson River Parkway will be closed in Mount Vernon and Pelham between exit 6 (I-95) and Exit 15 (Cross County Parkway). The closure is scheduled to conclude at 5 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, in advance of the morning commute. Northbound traffic on the parkway will be detoured at the I-95 interchange. White Plains' longest-serving mayor, Alfred Del Vecchio, has died. Del Vecchio died early on Wednesday, Dec. 5.
