ID Released For Man Found Floating In Water At Jones Beach
Police released the identity of a 58-year-old man whose body was found floating in the water at Jones Beach over the weekend. Nassau County resident Marino Prodan, of Seaford, was identified as the man whose body was located at the west end of the beach in Wantagh at about 6:20 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, the Nassau County Police Department announced on Tuesday, Sept. 13. When officers arrived and recovered Prodan's body from the water, he was unconscious and was not breathing, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, NCPD said. Former Westchester HS/College Sports Standout Dies At 47
A former high school and collegiate sports standout in the area has died. Longtime Putnam County resident Dennis Leonard, a 1992 graduate of Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak, was 47 years old. He excelled on both the varsity football and lacrosse teams before attending Salisbury University in Maryland, where he was a member of back-to-back undefeated NCAA champion lacrosse teams. Boater Pulls Fast One On Himself After Taking On Water Near Larchmont
What could have been a dramatic incident as a boater took on water on the Long Island Sound near a Westchester harbor turned into a laughable moment when it turned out there was nothing wrong with the boat and he was instead plagued by user error, authorities said.
