These Hudson Valley Counties Have Highest Property Tax Rates In Nation, New Study Says
Homeowners in New York and Connecticut paid some of the highest property taxes in the country last year, according to a brand new report. ATTOM Data Solutions released its 2018 property tax analysis for more than 87 million homes, announcing that single-family homeowners last year paid a total of $304.6 billion, up from $293.4 billion in 2017. The average was $3,498 per home, according to the report, which made for an effective tax rate of 1.16 percent. A Westchester County convict is facing a decade in prison after admitting to illegally possessing a stolen weapon at a Connecticut train station. Mount Vernon resident Michael Lawrence, 26, has pleaded guilty in Hartford federal court to one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon dating back to an incident last summer. Sentencing for a teenager who admitted to her role in the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Valaree Schwab last year has been delayed.
