BOGOTA, N.J. -- Happy Birthday to Bogota’s Vin Scully!Scully, a previous resident of Bogota, turns 89 Tuesday. Scully is a sportscaster best known for his play-by-play of Los Angeles Dodgers games. Scully has been with the Dodgers for 66 seasons – the longest time any broadcaster has been with a single team in professional sports history. While living in Bogota with his mother, 25-year-old Scully broadcast the 1953 World Series, making him the youngest man to broadcast a World Series game. Scully was honored by Bogota in 1995 with the naming of Oscar E. Olsen Park and Vin Scully Field.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- St. Vincent's College in Bridgeport recently unveiled the presidential portrait of Dr. Martha K. Shouldis, who served as president and CEO of St. Vincent's College from August 2008 until her retirement in July 2015.The custom portrait, painted by Shabrina Hou, was commissioned through the generosity of Virginia O'Brien Fortin, a dedicated friend and benefactor, who is a former member of the College's Board of Trustees. PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Port Chester-Rye Union Free School District has launched an effort to encourage and facilitate taxpayer letters and emails to elected officials in support of full aid, stressing that the district has lost over $145 million in state aid since 2008.
