Q&A with Katherine:

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy watching college football and basketball. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Favorite restaurant in town?

Tequila Sunrise. Their salsa and guacamole is to die for! It is definitely my family’s go to spot, and I would highly recommend it.

Favorite subject in school?

AP United States History was my absolute favorite subject in school. I love learning about how the United States was formed, and the path that history took to get us where we are today. I also enjoyed all of the class activities we did like Socratic seminars, the mock Lincoln Trial, and the Progressive Era Breakfast.

What are some reasons for your success?

My teammates, my coaches, and family have motivated me to practice hard. They have given me great techniques on how to race to the best of my physical ability. They have also taught me how to preserve through adversity, and how to be an extremely dedicated individual.

Biggest influences on your varsity career?

My coaches and teammates have been my biggest influences. I have been a part of the team for five years and gotten to know everyone so well. We spend so many hours together which allows us to become very close. Not only have they influenced my swimming, but they have also influenced who I have become as a person.

Person you would most like to meet?

I would most like to meet Ellen Pompeo, because she stars on my favorite television show: "Grey’s Anatomy."

What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?

Hopefully by that time I will have graduated college, and will be working somewhere in Washington, D.C., building my own path towards working in the White House..
