“His impact was felt immediately when he broke out as an eighth-grader,” Vitti said. “He was so determined and athletic, even as a young wrestler.”

Miller has established himself as one of the program’s finest. Miller’s performance in the first month of the season has earned him The Mamaroneck Daily Voice Athlete of the Month of December.

Miller won his second consecutive Mamaroneck Tiger tournament title in December and reached a milestone. He became the second Mamaroneck wrestler to reach 100 varsity wins.

“Ben has worked hard, chasing his dream of a section title, and has been a great role model for the other kids in our room,” Vitti said. “What is impressive about Ben is that he stays humble even with his myriad of accomplishments, but is his own worst critic when he doesn’t wrestle the way he wants.”

Vitti knows when Miller, a captain along with classmate Dion Duran, steps on the mat, the team is assured of a win. Miller’s presence in the lineup has been even more important as Duran was sidelined with an injury. He is currently 15-1 this season.

“It has been a pleasure to watch Ben grow up on the mat and I am excited for the remainder of his senior season,” Vitti said.
