ITHACA, N.Y. -- Section 1 team enjoyed a strong fourth-place finish at the New York State Championships on Saturday at Ithaca College.

Kate Douglass, an eighth-grader from Pelham, placed third in the 100 breaststroke.

Pelham (sixth) and Horace Greeley (10th) finished in the Top 10 in team scoring.

Greeley's Emma Hadley, a sophomore, took third in the 100 backstroke in 55.85. Teammate and classmate Kasia Malendowicz took third in the 500 freestyle in 5:01.19.

Four swimmers from Mamaroneck competed at the event, contributing 30 points.

The 200-yard medley relay foursome placed 23rd on Saturday after being seeded 34th, with a time of 1:52.74. The Tiger relay was comprised of eighth-grader, Alexa Parry; Tessa Graces, a senior; Nicole Parry, a junior; and Theresa Pace, a junior.

Nicole placed seventh in the state in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.31. In the 100 freestyle, Nicole placed 9th with a time of 52.86.

The week was not without drama. The Tigers were relocated Thursday after a fire broke out about 11:15 p.m. in the laundry room at Ithaca's Best Western Inn. No one was hurt.

Friday's competition was delayed by the snowstorm in Buffalo.

Christina Crowell, a diver from Fox Lane High School, suffered a concussion Friday after hitting her head on the diving board. She was treated at Cayuga Medical Center before being released.
