Mamaroneck Extends Winning Streak to Three Games

OSSINING, N.Y. – After winning the tournament they hosted last weekend, the Mamaroneck Tigers extended their winning streak to three games on Tuesday.

Mamaroneck defeated Ossining 58-55 on the road in its final nonleague matchup of the season. The Tigers will be in the postseason, but head coach Tyrone Carver, Jr. said his team must build on this winning streak and play its best basketball into February.

“It was very important,” Carver said about the need to beat Ossining. “Now that we’ve made the playoffs, we want to put ourselves in a good position to get a good seed now.”

Matt Mezansky finished with 23 points and eight assists, while Alex Lanni had 11 points for the Tigers.

The Tigers are in the midst of a dense portion of the schedule. They played three games last week and will play twice this week, including Tuesday’s game against Ossining. The next opponent is Gorton on Friday.

Next month, Mamaroneck will face plenty of tough league competition when it travels to Mount Vernon and New Rochelle, faces Scarsdale twice and hosts White Plains.

But Carver said the focus now must be squarely on Gorton.

“We’re not looking down the line,” Carver said. “We’re looking at the next opponent.”
