Republican Norman Rosenblum is the incumbent and was elected Mayor of Mamaroneck in 2009.
We asked the candidate about his continuing desire to lead Mamaroneck, and what he likes to do outside of the office.
Why do you want to continue to lead Mamaroneck? In the past four years, we have established a strong record of fiscal control, increased volunteer participation, as well as implementing flood mitigation procedures, infrastructure improvements and long term planning for the continued growth of the vibrancy and diversity of the “Friendly Village.” In essence, I enjoy delegating, facilitating and coordinating the positive growth and quality of life in the Village of Mamaroneck.
What is your favorite location in Mamaroneck to spend time with your family? Mamaroneck in general is great source of enjoyment at the numerous offerings of the VOM restaurants, retail stores, Parks and cultural institutions, i.e. Emelin, Sandbox Theater and the fabulous new Library.
It also offers an opportunity to get direct feedback from the residents, business and visitors. The events like St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Mamaroneck Shares, Fireman’s Parade and Carnival, Spooktacular are reason why we have a conservative estimate of over 2,000,000 visitors a year to our Village.
When is your birthday? Dec. 30 (Income tax baby)
What do you do for recreation? Work out at the NYSC; NASCAR Race team – Jim Rosenblum/FDNY Race team ; Dance in the streets during Mamaroneck Shares and the “Coffin Man” during Spooktacular!
Where is your favorite restaurant in the area? Anytime I am in one of the numerous restaurants that are throughout our great Village along Mamaroneck Avenue, Halstead Avenue, Boston Post Road or Palmer Avenue. All are one of the many reasons the Village of Mamaroneck is the No. 1 destination in Westchester.
