Woman Stole $3.3K In Westchester ID Theft Case, Police Say

A woman has been charged after allegedly stealing the identification of a Northern Westchester victim and spending $3,300, police say.

Yorktown Police received a larceny complaint on August 25, 2018. Further investigation revealed that a woman, later identified as 30-year-old Kristen Rucci of Carmel, allegedly assumed the identity of the victim by gaining access to his personal information.

Police say Rucci also made unauthorized purchases for cell phones totaling $3,317.49.

After multiple failed attempts to contact Rucci, police obtained a warrant for her arrest and carried it out on Monday, Feb. 25. Rucci was arrested, transported and processed at Yorktown Police Headquarters.

Rucci was charged with:

  • First-degree identity theft, a Class D felony
  • Third-degree grand larceny, a Class D felony

Rucci was unable to post her $10,000 bond and was remanded to Westchester County Jail. She is scheduled to return to Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, Feb. 28.
