"It was overblown and not serious," said Meredith Daniels, a spokesman at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
Daniels said MTA police were dispatched to Larchmont at 10:36 p.m. on Wednesday after inaccurate reports of "a customer assaulting the conductor" on the 10:04 p.m. train from Stamford, Conn.
"Larchmont police arrived to keep parties separate on platform," Daniels said.
MTA police placed the individual on the next southbound commuter train, Daniels said.
"This was a verbal dispute. No physical altercation," Daniels said.
