MAMARONECK, N.Y. – A sinkhole that left Mamaroneck’s Weaver Street in disarray on Monday will continue to cause road closures through Friday.
The hole was discovered Monday and measured 20 feet long, 10 feet wide and nearly 3 feet deep. It was repaired that evening and the road was reopened late Wednesday afternoon.
Westchester Department of Transportation Spokesperson Jennifer Post said Weaver Street, otherwise known as Route 125, will be closed Friday at 8:30 a.m. for repaving and will open late that evening.
She said officials are continuing to investigate how the sinkhole formed.
“We believe excessive rainfall contributed to the deterioration of the highway,” she said.
