Emblematic of the 2015 Miss Universe pageant and the now infamous Steve Harvey flub, presenter Faye Dunaway, after some confusion with fellow presenter Warren Beatty onstage, announced the musical "La La Land" as the winner for "Best Picture," when, in fact, "Moonlight" grabbed the gold.
Both Horowitz, a Scarsdale High School grad, and Berger, a 1999 Mamaroneck High School grad, are producers of "La La Land."
It was Horowitz, however, who graciously told the crowd there had been a mistake.This, after he had already thanked a host of folks for getting him on the stage.
Berger had time to thank his family and director Damien Chazelle until he noticed the sudden commotion behind him. “We lost, by the way — but, you know,” he said, shrugging. “There’s a mistake.” Watch the video closely and you can see Emma Stone next to him saying “Oh, my God.”
It was Horowitz who interrupted him.
The two weren't the only Westchester residents who lost on the film industry's biggest night. Mount Vernon's Denzel Washington lost for Best Actor for "Fences" as did Peekskill's Mel Gibson for directing "Hacksaw Ridge."
