LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- Gina Fonti and her daughters Julia and Sophia walked the runway at the Larchmont Shore Club, which hosted the Junior League of Westchester on the Sound's second annual Shop.Local Fall Fashion Show Thursday night.
The Fontis, of Larchmont, modeled merchandise from the Golden Shoestring on 149 Larchmont Ave., for which she is co-chair.
"We're having a great time," she said. "This is a wonderful way to get to know the local businesses."
The $60 event gave local businesses exposure and also benefitted community programs, which received all of the proceeds.
In addition to being one of 70 local residents modeling, the mother of two was one of the approximately 250 in attendance scoping out the latest local fashions on sale in the lobby before the show.
"We're getting some shopping done, too," said Fonti, who is also a member of the Junior League of Westchester.
The runway show also featured local officials, including Sound Shore mayors Norman Rosenblum of Mamaroneck, Dennis Pilla of Port Chester, Noam Bramson of New Rochelle, and Joshua Mandell of Larchmont.
"On behalf of the Village of Larchmont, I would like to thank the Junior League of Westchester on the Sound for all of the good work that they do," Mandell said. "Most of the storefront vacancies that existed a year ago have been filled by new merchants, and the streets are buzzing with activity."
County Legislator Judy Myers also walked the runway.
All proceeds raised by the Shop.Local. Fall Fashion Show will be used to assist JLWOS-supported community projects, including Career Connections, which assists women seeking help with professional transition; Little Leaguers, which teaches kids the value of giving back; Project Madres, a workshop program to empower immigrant women; SMART Girls, which mentors girls in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club; Sound Shore Medical Center Health Initiative, and other community outreach projects.
