Community members gathered Sunday to install "Circle Art" on the Westchester Department of Environmental Facilities wall. It will be on display through the end of July.
Hilde Friderichs had the idea to make art out of the photographs taken at a recent event, Circles of Peace, that she organized to promote peace and unity after the tragedies at Newtown and Boston.
The 39 portraits are each four-in-a-half by three feet and surround a six-foot in diameter peace sign drawn by Friderichs' children.
Circle Art will also be part of Parisian street artist JR ongoing "Inside Out Project". Similar to Circle Art, JR makes large-formate street "pastings" that give “everyone the opportunity to share their portrait and a statement of what they stand for, with the world.”
A second Circles of Peace event will be held at 9:30 a.m. June 16 for Father's Day and all are invited.
