First-responders from Milford, West Haven and Stratford as well as the Coast Guard responded just after 6 p.m. to Silver Sands State Park after a woman called 911 to report that her husband had fallen overboard, NBC Connecticut said.
The Coast Guard found him about 55 minutes later in the cold water, WTNH-TV said. The man, identified as 43-year-old Richard Melucci of Mount Sinai in Suffolk County, was taken him to Milford Hospital but died, WTNH said.
His wife was taken to Milford Hospital for evaluation, NBC Connecticut said.
