Membership at the Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club peaked around the late 1970s at approximately 300, but has steadily dwindled to a number roughly one-third of that now. Club owners have proposed measures to try and spark new membership, but their efforts have been met by protest, litigation and public review, The New York Times reported.
