The Rye Neck Middle School student will sing a duet with country star Leann Rimes as she competes for a $5 million recording contract. Along with the other acts – girl group Fifth Harmony and country singer Tate Stevens – Sonenclar will sing more than two songs during the two-hour finale.
Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains will be the site of an "X Factor" viewing party so people can cheer for the local singing sensation. The doors will open at 6 p.m., and the first 1,000 fans will be admitted. Not only will the crowd get to watch on a huge screen, but there's a chance they will be shown during the program.
"I'm real excited. Just making it to the finals is like I can't even believe I just said that," Sonenclar said in an "X Factor" interview. "There are a lot of songs you have to sing, so it's a different experience. I think we have strong choices."
Sonenclar's "X Factor" mentor and judge Britney Spears took to her official Twitter account to support Sonenclar.
"Spending the day with the one & only @CarlyRoseMusic. I'm telling y'all... this girl is COMING for the win this week," Spears wrote.
As the competition nears its end, Sonenclar thought about what she might do with her prize in an interview with "X Factor."
"I would give some to charity," she said. "I work with the Starlight Children's Foundation. I'm an ambassador and so I would do something for them."
As for where her career might lead after the singing competition, Sonenclar focused on the kind of music she would like to make.
"I want to bring the soul back to pop. My record would be a mix of those two genres because I think that is something that is not really out there right now. And hopefully because I mix the pop and the jazz, my sound could appeal to a wide range of ages. I think there is a gap in the industry for a soul/pop artist and I think that I could fill that gap."
"X Factor" returns to Fox at 8 p.m. Wednesday. After the show, viewers can vote by phone, text message or online for their favorite act and the winner of this season's finale.
