"New York Is My Playground," which showcases Goodrich's photography, is a fresh, moving homage to all who use New York City as their playground. The book shows kids -- and their parents -- how the city’s streets, structures, and landmarks can provide a unique playspace.
"From photographing children in their environment, be it New York City or their home or a park, I often found my favorite images are when the kids are just being kids and exploring, finding little things fascinating be it sticks, leaves, flowers or walking on cracks in the pavement," said Goodrich. "Kids can find wonder in life anywhere - they don't need a playground to have fun, the whole city is their playground."
What's nice is that, she, too, learned a lot in the process, including some places she had never visited or even knew about.
Goodrich, a mom of a young daughter, has published two other books:, a how to guide to photograph your own kids called "Capturing Every Day Life," and a kids photo book titled"Where's Charlie's Nose?"
