At least that's how it was for Larchmont resident Theo Klein who, while at University of Vermont, met up with fellow musician Trey Schibli of Ridgefield, Conn in 2013. The two started writing and recording music together, then eventually added Alec Donkin of Katonah to their sessions.
Once graduated, the three connected with Cole Miller, also from Katonah, and Woodbury, Conn. native Chris Corsico to form argonaut&wasp, a band known for combining rock, electronic, and funk.
The group is currently based out of Brooklyn, and records at their studio in Crown Heights as well as at Germano Studios in Manhattan.
And though the group plays mostly in Manhattan and Brooklyn -- think the Mercury Lounge, Knitting Factory, and Bowery Electric, where they will be playing every Thursday this August -- it will, for the first time, be at the Ridgefield Playhouse Sunday, July 24 at 7 p.m.
Klein, who serves as the band's songwriter, producer, keyboard and vocals, said everyone is very excited as the show will no doubt bring a host of family, friends, and possibly, former University of Vermont alum.
The group, he explained, started as a songwriting project back when he was a college sophomore. "Schibli came from a rock background and I have a more electronic production background," he said. "After releasing some songs we decided a live show was essential to our success. We linked with a bunch of UVM students and formed a live act which includes our current bass man, Alec Donkin."
The band is rounded out by Schibli who serves as songwriter, producer, guitar and vocals, Corsico on drums and Miller on backing vocals and guitar.
