  • After marinating meat, toss the leftover marinade to avoid potentially making anyone in your family sick.
  • Meat isn’t the only thing the grill is good for. Try grilling peaches, watermelon, or apples and top with frozen yogurt or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert.
  • To ensure your meat is cooked to the proper temperature, eye-balling the color isn’t enough. Checking the inside temperature with a meat thermometer is your best bet. You can purchase a meat thermometer where the temperatures are built-in from Bed, Bath, & Beyond or Target in the area.
  • Many barbecue sauces have added sugar that is tough to even spot under the ingredient list. Make your own rub using flavorful spices and use wood chips (like apple-wood or mesquite) to add even more flavor without the calories.
  • Skewers are a fabulous way to combine meats, fruits, and vegetables on the grill; to keep it healthy, try lean beef, pineapple, and bell peppers or a combo of chicken and grapes. It’s a tasty way to get your daily recommended amount of several food groups.
