HAWTHORNE, N.Y. -- Ever wish you could travel back to Victorian times?
Now you can thanks to the Victorian Social Affair, a Victorian Steampunk and Cosplay festival, being held for the first time on Sunday, July 10 at 2 p.m. at Hida Japanese Restaurant and Garden at 6 Saw Mill River Rd. in Hawthorne. The event is a creation of Marrow Arts, a White Plains-based producer of artistic themed events.Guests are invited to dress in their best Victorian, Steampunk, Cosplay or other worldly attire and mingle in Hida’s magical garden where costumed characters, dancers and musicians will be on hand.
There will also be a Victorian market where you can pose for a portrait artist, enjoy a tasty tapas buffet, show off your skills in the fan contest and win prizes for best dressed, fanciest fascinator, prettiest parasol and more.Tickets are $45 in advance, $55 at the door and include admission, the buffet, entertainment and contest entries. Costumes are encouraged, but not required. Guests must be 21-years-old or older to attend. A cash bar and special drinks will also be available.
