A hazardous device team was called to a Hudson Valley property after a mortar shell was found during excavation work. The incident happened in Putnam County on Monday, June 17, when a caller performing excavation work at a Philipstown property on Juniper Hill Road reported the discovery of an unexploded mortar shell under some rocks, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office announced on Wednesday, June 19. Hand Grenade Found On Property In Westchester
A hand grenade was discovered on property owned by Westchester County. The discovery occurred on Monday morning, July 29, in Tuckahoe, Westchester County Police said. The grenade contained no gunpowder and did not pose any safety threat to the public, police said. The Westchester County Police Hazardous Devices Unit removed the grenade from property near Tuckahoe Road and Garrett Avenue that is part of the Bronx River Parkway Reservation, police said.
