Longtime Westchester County Association Chairman Bill Plunkett Dies
Beloved lawyer Bill Plunkett, who served as chairman of the Westchester County Association and was also an integral part of several other important institutions, has died. Plunkett, a longtime resident of Tarrytown, died on Sunday, April 16 at the age of 82, according to his obituary. Born in Buffalo in 1940, Plunkett graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School in 1958 and went on to attend the College of the Holy Cross and the New York University School of Law, earning his law degree in 1965. Westchester County Association Starts Search For New CEO/President
The Westchester County Association has officially started its search to fill the role of President and Chief Executive Officer. As Westchester’s leading economic development and business advocacy organization, the WCA has developed a seven-member search committee chaired by Jeff Menkes, President and CEO of The Burke Rehabilitation Hospital and a key member of WCA’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Two of the area’s leading business advocacy organizations will soon become one, following the announcement of a major merger between the Westchester County Association and the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp.The deal, announced on Tuesday, Jan. 29, will center on strengthening the economy in the Hudson Valley. The new organization - which has not been given a designated name - is expected to take effect later this year. Latimer Signs Lease For $1.2B, 60-Acre Biotech Center Bringing Thousands Of Jobs To Westchester
County Executive George Latimer has officially signed the lease for a biotech center that will bring thousands of jobs to the Westchester area, he announced during his annual speech to members of Westchester County Association on Thursday, Jan. 10 at the Westchester Marriot in Tarrytown.
