A Northern Westchester man who grew his family business into an award-winning enterprise is being remembered for his willingness to give back to both his loved ones and his community. Eugene “Bud” Hammer III of Katonah died on Tuesday, June 13 at the age of 58 after a brave battle against leukemia, according to his obituary. The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak is now considered widespread in Putnam after eight new positive cases have brought the county's total to 39 cases as of late afternoon Sunday, March 22, the health department said. CDC Targets United Way Of Westchester, Putnam For Pandemic Flu Response
Amid one of the worst flu seasons in recorded history, a local organization has been chosen as an emergency call center by the Centers for Disease Control. The United Way of Westchester and Putnam has been chosen as one of 27 call centers nationwide that will participate in “Flu on Call” a national network of triage phone lines that will be staffed by trained medical professionals with information on how to help battle the pandemic.
