The watch is in effect until 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12 in the counties shown in yellow. Storm Update: Tornado Watch Issued For These NY Counties As rounds of showers and storms sweep through the region, a Tornado Watch has now been issued for parts of New York. The watch is in effect until 11 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7 in the counties shown in yellow. In New York, those counties are: Sullivan Broome Chenango Delaware Otsego Tioga Severe thunderstorms are expected to continue through the afternoon and in Monday evening. Tornado Watch Issued For Westchester County, With 60 MPH Wind Gusts, Hail Also Possible As a slow-moving storm system barrels through the Northeast, a Tornado Watch has now been issued for much of the region until 3 p.m. Sunday, July 16. It includes parts of southeastern New York -- Long Island, as well as Westchester, and Putnam counties -- as well as all eight counties in Connecticut, and the following counties in Massachusetts: Berkshire, Essex, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, Middlesex, and Worcester. Tornado Watch Now In Effect For Westchester County A Tornado Watch has just been issued for nearly the entire region. It's in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, the National Weather Service said. It was issued just before 3:30 p.m. Thursday. It covers Westchester, Putnam, Rockland and Orange counties in the Hudson Valley, Suffolk County on Long Island and Fairfield County in Connecticut. The watch comes as a new round of severe storms is expected to sweep through the area. The main threats, including the potential for tornadoes, are damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph, golf-ball size hail, brief heavy downpours and local flash flooding. …

It's in effect until 10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2.  Main threats include the potential for tornadoes, scattered damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph, and isolated large hail. Scattered severe thunderstorms are also expected through around 11 p.m. Sunday. The watch does not currently include New York City or Long Island. Tornado Touched Down In New York, National Weather Service Confirms A tornado touched down in New York State when a round of severe storms sweep through the region Friday night, May 15, the National Weather Service confirmed. The twister was in one of the northern areas of New York and Connecticut in which a Tornado Watch was in effect. It touched down between 5:59 p.m. and 6:01 p.m. Friday in Wilton, New York, located near I-87 in Saratoga County, where it blew away and displaced street signs and uprooted and snapped a string of trees, with some falling on top of houses, according to the National Weather Service. At 5:45 p.m., 6,202 NYSEG customers lost power in Northern Westchester, mainly in Bedford, Lewisboro and Pound Ridge. Con Ed reported 1,398 outages in the Northern Westchester communities it serves. Metro-North Harlem Line service is temporarily delayed between Goldens Bridge and Chappaqua due to downed trees in the vicinity of Bedford Hills.
