To address incomplete road repairs left behind by private companies, Westchester County will be enforcing new legislation that raises repaving standards. Hydrant Flushing May Lead To Discolored Water In Northern Westchester
Some Northern Westchester residents may soon experience discolored water as officials begin a semi-annual hydrant-flushing program. The Village of Croton-on-Hudson Water Department announced that beginning on Monday, Sept. 16, crews will be flushing hydrants between 8 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. on weekdays. The flushing program is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete. Temporary Water Shutdown, Road Closure Announced In Croton-On-Hudson
Water service will be disrupted and roads closed in Croton-on-Hudson as crews conduct hydrant work in the village. Elected officials in Croton-on-Hudson issued an alert warning that beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, water will be turned off in the vicinity of Maple Street, and later on Old Post Road South at approximately 9 p.m. Officials said that residents who will be affected have been notified of the shutdown. During the hydrant work, Maple Street will be closed westbound between Grand Street and Old Post Road South. Eastbound traffic is not expected to be impacted.

Water Shutdown Scheduled For Stretch Of Croton-On-Hudson Homes
There will be a temporary road closure and lack of water service in Croton-on-Hudson on Thursday as crews work to replace equipment in the area. The Croton-on-Hudson Water Department will be replacing a valve along Maple Street on Oct. 4, prompting a water shut off in the area of Maple Street and Old Post Road South. The shutdown is scheduled for approximately 7 p.m. on Thursday, and should last approximately two hours. Tragic Mianus Bridge Collapse Along I-95 Marks 35th Anniversary
On this day in 1983, a part of the Mianus River Bridge collapsed. Three people were killed and three others were seriously injured. At about 1:30 a.m., on June 28, 1983, a 100-foot span of Interstate 95 in Greenwich collapsed into the Mianus River in one of the most infamous American bridge disasters of the 20th century. A car and two tractor-trailers careened over the edge of I-95. The death toll could have been significantly higher if the collapse occurred during rush hour, officials said.
