South Salem's Biddle Commits to Division I Crew

SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. - A Division I collegiate powerhouse in crew is adding a local product to its roster. Ellie Biddle, a South Salem resident and student at St. Luke's School in New Canaan, Conn., signed a letter of intent to row for the University of Virginia. The Cavaliers won the NCAA Division I women's rowing championship in 2010.

At a ceremony held in the school's gym in front of family, friends and St. Luke's faculty, Biddle donned a blue and orange sweatshirt with the Cavalier logo on it.

The Viginia crew team is already loaded with local products, including six rowers from Fairfield County, CT. Brett Connors of New Canaan also signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Division I Siena College at the ceremony.

CORRECTION (11/18): University of Virginia crew coach Kevin Sauer was not present at the ceremony. The Daily Lewisboro received incorrect information from a person at the event.
