John Jay Football Looks to Sting Hornets

CROSS RIVER, N.Y. -- John Jay-Cross River and Lakeland enter their game Saturday at 7 p.m. off of wins.

The Indians turned in a solid all-around game in a 14-7 victory over Rye. John Jay’s defense handcuffed Rye the first three quarters and forced two key turnovers.

The Hornets doubled up their arch-rival, Panas, 28-14, last week as Dan Eremita rushed for 180 yards and two scores.

John Jay quarterback Tyler Keech highlighted a relentless running game against Rye, accumulating 153 yards. The defensive showing was even more impressive, limiting the Garnets to the one score. Jimmy O’Reilly, Declan Myer, Danny Caoila and their defensive teammates made Rye fullback Joe Simolacaj work hard for his 78 yards on 18 carries.
