Katonah's Harvey School Football Starts New Coaching Era

KATONAH, N.Y. - The Harvey School football program begins its fall sports schedule next week with new coach Mark Brandon and a strong returning group of players.

The Cavaliers will be led by their new head coach, a strong offensive line, solid veteran linebackers and an enthusiastic set of young coaches.

“The Cavaliers look to give their opponents a heavy dose of the running game behind a strong offensive line," Brandon said. "The program will greatly miss long-standing head coach Chris Kelly.”

Captains William Rice and Christian Harrington will anchor a line that also includes Tom Dowdell, Guillermo Leon and McKie Perry. Captains Andrew D'Alessandro, Armando Vasquez and Sharif Koonce return to lead the defense from the linebacker positions.

Assistant coach Kevin Avery has been added to the staff after moving over from White Plains High School. He will join returning assistants Jason Hill and Harvey alumni Kyle Delaney and Mike Barefield.

"(Avery) brings a wealth of knowledge and energy,” Brandon said.

Harvey hosts Dwight-Englewood (New Jersey) on Sept. 22 in its season opener.
