Harvey Boys Soccer Squeaks by EF International

KATONAH, N.Y. ? The Harvey School varsity boys soccer team earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory over EF International Monday in Tarrytown for its third win of the season.

The Cavaliers, who won their second straight match to lift their record to 3-3, host Wooster Wednesday before traveling to St. Luke's in New Canaan, Conn., Friday.

Harvey and EFI battled in a defensive struggle for most of the game, with the Cavaliers hanging in despite being outshot 25-7. Junior Adam Gurman, in his first start as goalkeeper for Harvey, made several good saves, saving 17 shots overall.

EFI scored first and Harvey tied it at 1-1 on a goal that began with Gurman punting out to senior captain David Mandra, who laid the ball off to Robbie VanRaamsdonk for the goal.

The Cavaliers continued playing strong defense through the second half until fullback Charlie Seider sent a ball into EFI territory, where VanRaamsdonk passed back to Mandra, who lined a shot home to give the Cavs the 2-1 victory.
