Lewisboro’s John Jay High School Edges Ahead On TV 'Challenge'

LEWISBORO, N.Y. – The five-student team from Lewisboro’s John Jay High School will return for its second round on MSG Varsity’s interscholastic competition known as “The Challenge.”

Students in the competition must answer questions testing their knowledge of history, arts and literature, current events, math and science. The program is conducted in front of a live audience and telecast on Cablevision’s Optimum Channel 14.

As one of the 32 competing schools in the Westchester/Hudson Valley region, John Jay is striving to win the Regional Rounds to qualify for the the Tri-State Championship Playoffs. The Tri-State area includes Nassau, Suffolk, Brooklyn, the Bronx, New Jersey, Connecticut and the Westchester/Hudson Valley area, for a total of 192 high schools.

The Regional champion schools will be awarded $2,500. The Tri-State champion school will receive $10,000, with an additional $500 for each member of the winning team.

Members of the John Jay team include Alex Lee, Angelo Angelino, Alexander Bolgar and Jackson Ruzzo, the team captain. The alternate team member is Janice Choi.

Tune in to Channel 14 on Wednesday, March 20, at 6:30 p.m. to watch as Yorktown High School challenges the John Jay Patriots.
