It is expected that the sum will cover nearly all of the extraordinary expenses incurred by the storm, such as building checks, cleanup, repairs and overtime requirements.

In order to qualify for a FEMA E-Grant, School Business Administrator Lee Lew, Director of School Facilities Tom Psomas and Maintenance Foreperson Frank Raposiero compiled extensive information about personnel hours, equipment required, wages paid and invoices. FEMA representatives were also taken on site tours to assess the damages.

“We are constantly looking for efficiencies and ways to mitigate costs,” said Assistant Superintendent for Business Michael Jumper. “In today’s tax cap environment, we are pleased that we have not incurred losses due to the hurricane and thank Lee, Tom and Frank for seeing the reimbursement process through to the end.”
